Regional Contractors Knowledge Exchange, a gathering of infrastructure industry leaders discussing how to develop an effective digital (BIM) strategy, throughout the asset lifecycle, took place in Bentley’s Digital Advancement Academies Hub in Dubai on the 20th of February, 2019.The Director of Zigurat's Master’s in Global BIM Management for Infrastructure Projects, Issam El-Absi was one of the key speakers at the event, the purpose of which was to bring together leading experts from UAE, Middle East, and India to offer key insights and practical experiences about how digitalization can improve the creation and operation of digital and physical infrastructure assets. Discussions also focused on organizations’ lessons learned from projects, challenges in current industry practices, and market trends in UAE with respect to BIM requirements.The presentation of Issam El-Absi in the block of Digital Journey & Challenges in Middle East focused on the tangible benefits that BIM delivers for construction. He started introducing many current BIM projects, such as the Midfield Terminal Building in Abu Dhabi (UAE), the Lusail Multi-Purpose Hall (Qatar), the Nile Corniche project (Egypt) among others, in order to speak about building sustainable and effective BIM capacity and strategy later on in the presentation. Zigurat’s master, the first global program for infrastructure mega projects, was also introduced and well received at the event.
