BIMCommunity participates at Bentley’s “Year in Infrastructure” 2019 conference in Singapore

Categories

BIMCommunity, Zigurat’s BIM portal and a site of reference in the AEC industry for BIM, was present during one of the industry’s most important events, the Year in Infrastructure 2019, organized by Bentley. This major occasion took place from 21 to 24 of October. Four days during which the participants attended the presentations of key innovations and where the BIMCommunity team had the opportunity to interview the top experts and bring its audiences the most significant developments in the construction sector.

Infrastructure Digital Twins for Digital Cities

One of the peak moments of the event was when Bentley Systems presented its new digital cities initiative, applying digital twins for more efficient city and regional operations and for more connected and resilient infrastructure. Greg Bentley described the opportunities for benefits that digital twins bring to their digital cities product advancement group as very compelling. He also confirmed that the company’s “major technical thrust is the advancement of digital twins across infrastructure domains”. The objective here is to apply digital twins for more efficient city and regional operations and through that achieve more connected and resilient infrastructure. 4D surveying and reality modeling will enable new collaborative digital workflows. The planners and engineers would be able to build city-scale digital twins and the cloud services would provide an intuitive and immersive 4D environment converging.

Digital technology for a better real world

The agenda of YII2019 focused on how to advance BIM through digital twins. This new technology will allow the professionals to build digital representations of physical assets to plan out and de-risk maintenance activities before carrying them out in the real world. The ecosystem of innovation present during the event went beyond this single innovation. BIMCommunity also witnessed to major company launchings in the field of digitalization. One of the most relevant projects is Digital Construction Works, a new venture by Bentley Systems and Topcon Positioning Systems that will close the constructioneering advancement gap. With a staff of digital construction experts, this project will provide digital automation, integration, and “twinning” services around a portfolio of software and cloud services to increase the potential of constructioneering for industrializing construction. During those four days in Singapore, BIMCommunity participated in the industry forums to learn about best practices and advances in technology, frequented the Digital Advancement Academies and gathered insights into the latest in design, engineering, construction, and operations that the audiences can soon check out on their channels.
