Professor Ana Clara Mourão Moura has a strong academic background, holding a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in 1988. She later specialized in Territorial and Urban Planning at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-MG) and the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1990. She completed her master’s degree in Geography at UFMG in 1993 and her PhD in Geography, with an emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 2002.
She served as a Full Professor in the Department of Urbanism at UFMG, where she coordinated the Geoprocessing Laboratory at the School of Architecture.
Her expertise spans areas such as Urban Planning, Geosciences, GIS, Cartography, and Cultural Landscape Simulation, in which she has earned significant recognition.
Additionally, Professor Ana Clara completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) in Italy, furthering her studies in geoprocessing and urban planning.
Her academic contributions include supervising master’s and doctoral students in the Graduate Program in Geography (PPGG) at UFMG’s Institute of Geosciences, significantly contributing to the training of new professionals in the field.
Recognized as a pioneer in the use of GIS in Brazil, Professor Ana Clara has expertise in Urbanism and Geosciences, with an emphasis on Spatial Analysis, Geographic Information Systems, Urban Environmental Diagnostics, and Spatial Management of Historical and Landscape Heritage.
Her dedication to research and teaching has solidified her reputation as one of the leading experts in her field.
