Sergio Muñoz
Sergio Muñoz Gómez is a Telecommunications Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Valencia since 2000, where he also obtained his Advanced Studies Diploma in 2005. His professional career has focused on interoperability between agents, processes, and applications, and in recent years, he has developed BIM consulting services, initially at Laurentia Technologies and currently at BIMandpartners. He is the President of the buildingSMART Spanish Chapter and has significantly contributed to the dissemination of the BIM methodology in Spain.
He has written numerous articles on BIM and is a co-author of guides such as the "BIM Guide on Tendering" by the College of Public Works Technical Engineers and the "BIM Guide for Technical Architecture" by the General Council of Technical Architecture of Spain. He collaborated on the development of the BIM Building Element Catalog of the Valencian Institute of Building, enabling information export in IFC format. He is responsible for the Spanish translation of the EN-ISO 19650 standards parts 1, 2, 3, and 5, as well as the EN-ISO 16739: IFC standard. He actively participates in national and international working groups, including buildingSMART International, the Interministerial BIM Commission, the "Construyendo el Futuro" commission in Catalonia, and the UNE-CT41-SC13 standardization committee, of which he is currently the president.
In addition to his work at BIMandpartners, Sergio is a professor at several academic institutions, such as the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and the European University of Valencia, where he teaches courses on BIM and digital transformation in the construction sector.
His leadership at the buildingSMART Spanish Chapter has been instrumental in promoting the adoption of open standards in the construction industry in Spain, facilitating collaboration and interoperability among different platforms and agents in the sector.
Sergio has participated in numerous events and conferences, sharing his experience and knowledge about BIM and the digitalization of the construction sector, contributing to the advancement and modernization of the industry at both national and international levels.
